In honor of Mini-Quilt Monday I whipped up this ode to Valentines Day using some of my favorite pink and purple fabric scraps. Not to worry if you don’t have an extensive pink scrap stash, a nice fat quarter bundle would work just fine for this project. If you’re a quilter you can download the patchwork heart to make your own.
Simply follow the number order of pieces on the pattern, press as you go, and then when you’re finished cut out the heart using the pattern lines and simply applique the final product to the fabric of your choice. Want to make a border like mine? It’s easy: piece strips of 3″x3″ squares to your desired length, and then cut the strips in half to make 1.5″ strips. Sew them to your fabric square before attaching your heart, and then prepare for quilting. Applique the heart onto your square with border, then quilt and bind as desired. This would also make a super cute pillow!
In New York, new to quilting and want to learn all of these techniques? Give us a ring at the store and schedule a private lesson. This project can be completed in 2 hours!
Looking forward to sharing more quilting projects, and a new weekly series called ‘fabric remix’ with you all!
