fun with faux fur…

Each semester of our kids classes there is a fabric, project or pattern that we are inspired by. This semester that fabric is FAUX FUR!! Every winter we like to do something with faux fur and it is especially appropriate this winter with the frigid temperatures and snow we have been experiencing. Last year we did faux fur vests and this year we made sure to add a few more ideas to the mix!

Our faux fur vests were such a big hit last year that we of course brought them back. Students were offered a few different styles and colors of faux fur and they paired it with the fabric lining of their choice. Our little fashionistas came up with some super stylish combinations!

Like we said, though we LOVE the vests, we were excited to design another project including the faux fur – perhaps something to match their vests?

Chances are if you live in New York City this winter you’ve seen someone wearing a Trapper Hat! Young, old – men women – this winter accessory is everywhere.

Our students couldn’t wait to make these hats – in fact they are officially the first hats we’ve made at Pins & Needles!! It was especially fun to see all the creative choices of fabrics! From glitters, to solids, to houndstooth and neon, each one was totally unique and adorable! These chic hats are also for our adult stitchers out there!

Faux fur is also great for other creative projects – from blankets to throw pillows, muffs and more. There is still some faux fur available in the shop, so stop in or book a private lesson to make a Trapper Hat all your own!
