Since I can remember, I have been on the look out for creative events, conferences and get togethers to attend all in an effort to learn and meet others who are as passionate about sewing and modern crafting as I am. I have been lucky enough to have attended a few and have met many inspring people.

Usually, they are in other areas of the country so getting on a plane and packing a bag were required. When I heard that crafter extraordinaire, Brett Bara – she is also an author (Sewing In A Straight Line), liefstyle blogger (Manhattan Craft Room) and all around expert on all things creative, was organizing a giant DIY party right here in NY called Brooklyn Craft Camp, I could not get a ticket fast enough!

The no packing or traveling involved helped to also seal the deal!

What a brilliant idea – one full day filled with DIY, stylish crafting, friends, food and fun all to celebrate the ever growing creative community in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Craft Camp is on Saturday, March 16th and will be held in the vintage hall at the Messiah Church in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Brett has brought together some of NYC’s best craft authors and bloggers. Jay McCarrol, winner of Project Runway Season One, will be a keynote speaker. There are four 90 minute craft classes in knitting, crochet, jewelry, terraniums, embroidery, paper crafting and more. All taught by experts from Etsy, Kollabora and Anthropologie - materials and tools included.
